Joint Health – Standing Marches with Hip and Leg Isolation

Make your hips feel good through isolation!

We all tend to let gravity win and compress our joints in the process. This creates more wear and tear on our hips than is necessary.  Our hip and leg are connected by a ball-and-socket joint that is held together with muscle, tendons and tissue. Despite our legs and hips being completely different bones, we tend to move them like they are fused together, which contorts our low back and spine and compresses our hip joints, which can cause grinding and joint damage in any of these three areas. However, this is completely preventable if we learn to isolate our hip and leg bones.

This video gives you a basic exercise you can do to learn how to isolate in your hip joint. Learning how to march correctly also starts to teach you how to walk and hold yourself correctly, which helps prevent more joint wear and tear and injuries in the hips, knees, ankles and low back. Find a mirror so you can watch yourself and give it a try!
